PIES! yum! tutorial....

So I am branching out a bit from just diapers here. -Hope you don't mind :)
I promised this tutorial to a few ladies on twitter, so here it is.

Pie in a jar

you need wide mouth pint jars
a store bought pie crust (or you can make your own)
pie filling

hint here... if you use a pie crust already in the tin (not the packaged ones) you can only get 2 pies made.

take the pie crust and quarter it.
Using one quarter:
-take the jar and cut a circle out of the pie crust.
-set this circle aside.

do this for the 3 remaning quarters.
take the left over pieces and line the jar with it.
see it isn't hard! :)

Now "pick your poison" and fill the jar and leave from 3/4 to 1 inch space at the top.
Find your cut out circles and place them on top of the filling. Push against the sides to seal.

Cut cute little slipts to relaease the air or you will have a mess.
Here you can now brush with melted butter or egg whites, but I like to sprinkle on cinnamon and sugar.

Now you can put the lid on and give them as gifts. You can also throw them in the freezer for a little treat some night after the kiddos are in bed. ;-)
-I shouldn't have to say it, but I will anyway...these need to be refrigerated (duh) if you aren't going to cook them right away or freeze them.
-Cooking time varies, I started with 20 min and checked every 5 or 10 after that.
-If they are frozen take them out and put them in a COLD oven. Turn the oven on and the glass will heat up with the oven and won't break! :)

How NIFTY huh?
They are super yummy too! :) -fun and quick.

Yummy! Thanks for posting this cool idea! It would make a great gift (if I don't eat them before giving them away)! I am definitely going to give this a try!
