Keeping my Buns Warm: Tracie Seed Designs Review/Giveaway

I LOVE finding cute little etsy shops -as you will see thought this event.
Tracie Seed Designs is one that I think is so fun!
Tracie has been so fun to get to know also. . . like finding a new friend.  :)

Who is the mastermind behind your products?  Who is the inspiration?
All items are designed and handmade by me. I've created all my life and have fond memories from my childhood of drawing, coloring and sewing with my Mom. I've been sewing since I was 7 years old when my great-grandmother "Big Granny" taught me to sew clothes for my dolls. I am passionate about striving to live a creative and mindful life. I work in many mediums including recycled products. My creations come from a long history of creative women: from my heart, to my hands, to my customers.

How long have you been selling your product?
October 2009 I started selling to a local store called Kreatelier (www.kreatelier.com) and they encouraged me to open an Etsy store and eventually consider wholesale trade.  I am currently researching this year and creating a solid line of products by trial and error.

How has your product evolved from the fist time you made it?  Has it changed in design or anything?
This specific product that Vilate has is actually my second design. I made the second (this one) bigger and added a heating element that can be microwaved before placing the bread products inside.  Vilate has given me some great tips to make it better.   ** The new heating element will have a removable sleeve that can be washed with the bun warmer if need be.

What do you love most about your product?
I grew up eating biscuits and gravy.  This product reminds me of that.  I love that it can be washed & easily stored (as compared to a basket.  It adds a sense of nostalgia and whimsy to the table.  It makes a great gift for the baker in your life, a hostess, a house warmer or anyone who loves to eat warm bread!

What makes your product stand out from the rest?  *brag about it, it is ok!  :)  Like I said, it is easily stored and comes with the heating element.  I make each one to order so any fabric combination can be used.  I love custom orders and thrive on finding the perfect fabric for my customer.

Fun huh?
So what are we reviewing today?  A Bun, Bread, Biscuit Warmer
Isn't that just so "springy"?
BTW those are bread bowls.  4 fit in there just great!  And the heating pad is such a great idea to keep your bread warm.

As Tracie said in her interview she had changed the design slightly.  She has made a sleeve for her heating pad.  This is brilliant.  I just suggested that she finish off the edges with a serge or a turned in seam, and she took it one step further.  Now when you want to wash it you only have to wash the sleeve for the warmer!

This warmer is made with the perfect fabrics too.  It stands up all by itself, but it also folds up nicely for storage.  For me in my little house this is super important!
This would be an awesome gift for any mom, grandma, or friend.
But hold it, that is only one item she has in her shop:

How fun are these unique items?  She has lots of recycled items in her shop!  Tracie also says she loves custom items... so ask away!  :)

I know you are excited to get a Bun, Biscuit, and Bread Warmer, either for your own table or for a gift...Mother's day is just around the corner.

Adventures in our home!

It is adventure after adventure at our house.
On Thursday night we finally had everyone home and we were doing the bed time "ritual".  All the kids were in jammies, and had just finished brushing their teeth.  my shining "son" decided he had to go potty so he was kicking everyone else out of the bathroom.  My little Miracle didn't get all the way out before the door slammed sut.  Her finger was what was left behind.  :(
So then she comes out screaming.... I told her to calm down, it wasn't that bad.  She held her finger still and looked at it.  It was bleeding, so she freaked out.  She started shaking her hand and screaming, "I'm gushing, I'm gushing!"  with droplets of blood splattering everywhere.  When I finally got to her and stopped her she was bleeding more.  I grabbed one of my bamboo velour wipes and wrapped it up.  Found hubby... put my Right-hand-man (#1) in charge, took a minute to have family prayer...and then headed to the ER.  To make a long story short we were there for 4 hrs.  While there she fell asleep.  She was so brave and when we left they gave her a teddy bear.  All I had with me was my phone camera, so the pics aren't great!  But here they are:

so 4 stitches later:

Pretty nasty huh?
*******************************************************
Then the next day we had a Birthday party for the 3 little girls!  :)
Fun was had by all!

She had moments she was tired ....  but for the most part she had FUN!

Didn't the aprons and hats turn out cute?  They got to take them home.

My helpers!
My birthday girls!

The cake.... not as good as Amelia's but it was cute!

Haiti and Snappy SwimzEaze: Review/Giveaway

New Added the Facebook page!  gain more entires!

Today I want to do a review of a shop!  NOT an item...but a shop.
This shop is called Handmade for Haiti
I stumbled on this shop as I was looking for some "flip-flop" things for my girls bedroom.  I love to shop on etsy, and browse the shops and see the unique and cute things that all the talented people make.  I found an adorable money bag with flip flops embroidered on the front.  I fell in love with the idea behind this shop and so I want to help them out.

This is the Breakwater School 5th grade class.
This school is in Portland Maine

I did do research and make sure this was legit before I decided to do this.  I really feel these kids are doing an amazing thing and I want to help them in their efforts!

Here is some information I found on their school webpage

In an effort to raise money for the people of Haiti, Breakwater School’s Fifth Grade Students have begun a website called Handmade for Haiti. Handmade for Haiti sells handmade items such as knit hats, scarves, and mittens, paintings, soaps, and coasters. Original photography is expected to arrive on their site soon. Some of the handmade items have been made by the students, while others have been made by the Breakwater School Community–including parents, teachers, grandparents, and friends. One hundred percent of their proceeds will go towards disaster relief for Haiti—though the students are currently researching which non-profit they feel would be the best fit for them to send their proceeds to.

The students came up with the idea for the website after being devastated by Haiti’s suffering after its recent earthquakes. They immediately wanted to find a way to help. Many students enjoy knitting and have taken knitting enrichment classes at Breakwater. Others thought their paintings would be a great way to earn money for the cause.

How neat huh?  How can you not want to help them?
So this is what I came up with.
Nifty Nappy Snappy SwimzEaze

Keeps your babies tush comfy while keeping your mind at ease, knowing that everything will stay in the diaper and not in the pool!
Don't you hate buying a swim diaper and then using it once and throwing it away? With this reusable cloth swim diaper you can get many years of swimming in and have an adorable water baby!
My swim diaper have always been big sellers in the spring and summer months!  They are fun and work great!  They have an inside layer of microfleece so there is some absorbency.  They have a hidden PUL layer so the poop won't leak out, and the elastic on the legs and back help that also.  The snap settings are such that these will fit a variety of kiddos.

I have 2 different sizes on these,
small: fits 7-25lbs.  or newborn to size 4 disposable diaper
large: fits 20-40lbs.  or size 2-6 disposable diaper

Cute and fun huh?  So now for the details and to merge the two thoughts.  :)

For March, April and May I will donate $2 from every swim diaper I sell from MY site  *not counting retailers unless they want to join in* to the Breakwater 5 th grade class for their Haiti fund.
I also will offer (on top of that) a 15% discount to anyone who purchases an item from the Handmade for Haiti etsy shop.  You will need to email me or tweet me that you purchased with a link to the item you bought then I will send you a SECRET CODE to get the discount!  :)

So I guess I have done the review, now for the giveaway part.  I debated on doing this... I decided to, but I really want the main focus of this to be on those kids and how awesome their efforts are.

So up for giveaway is one Nifty Nappy Snappy SwimEaze, your fabric choice and size choice.

My Comfy Feet: Dearfoams Review/Giveaway

Don't forget to check the drop down menu for the other giveaways!  :)
Also check for the winners to past giveaway!  -remember to congratulate them!  :)
*********************************

I am such a huge fan of the next item.

Aren't they BEAUTIFUL?
They are super soft too.  The inside of this boot is lined down to the ankle with the faux fur, and the foot part is lined with fleece.
The most amazing part of this is the padding for the sole.  I felt as if I was walking on air!  It is so awesome!
I loved working with the Dearfoams company too.  They were super great and very eager to get me the information I needed.  I can only sing their praises!

I really put these boots slippers to the test too.  As some of you know I took a few days and went to a scrapbook retreat!  I do't know if you know it yet, but I LOVE scrapbooking!  Almost as much as I love my Cloth Diapers!  :)
We all get together, pack up all out stuff and then go up to a cabin in the mountains above Heber City, Utah.  We got up there the first day, and right when we pulled in at about noon it started snowing.  The fist thing I did ageer getting all my stuff unloaded from the car was to put my boots on.  The floors in the cabin are tile, and super cold and hard.
So we scrapped all day long.

Called it a night at about 11pm...kinda early I know, but I had stayed up the night before till 3am trying to get things done at the house and get diapers shipped out.
The next morning we woke up and guess what we had?

SNOW!!!!

Look at all that!  It just dumped on us!  It didn't stop till mid morning the next day!  It was cold and did I mention cold?  I am so glad I took my thermals and my hoodie!  :)  But the real life saver was my Dearfoams!   You have to know something about me here.  I am always cold.  This is because my feet are cold.  Never again!  I get to have warm feet from  here on out!  Whoo hoo!

So let's get to know the Dearfoams!
Who is the mastermind behind your products?  Who is the inspiration?
Florence Melton, our founder, created the first foam-cushioned slipper in 1947.  She originally was trying to invent a new shoulder pad and stumbled upon foam in a tire factory in Akron, OH and thought the best thing you could do with foam was to walk on it.  It simply grew from there. Here’s a link about our company’s history: http://www.rgbarry.com/About/Pages/CorporateHistory.aspx

How long have you been selling your product?
Since 1947.  We were originally known as Angel Treads and became Dearfoams in 1958.

How has your product evolved from the fist time you made it?  Has it changed in design or anything?
Yes, it has certainly evolved.  We still create the traditional slipper silhouettes, but we also design more trendy, stylish slippers for those who look for fashion.  Also, many (most) of our slippers have an indoor/outdoor sole now for flexibility in wearing them outside of the home.  We’re constantly on the lookout for product advancements so you’ll continue to see new fabrics, new soles, new designs.  We’ve even created a sister brand called DF Sport that is more of a casual comfort footwear product.

What do you love most about your product?
First and foremost is the comfort.  Secondly, our history and tradition of making comfortable slippers means we’re a brand you can trust.  Also, we strive to create styles for everyone.  We have styles for slipper traditionalists, comfort enthusiasts, and trend seekers.

What makes your product stand out from the rest?  *brag about it, it is ok!  :)
Honestly, I think it’s the quality, and authentic brand, indulgent comfort (not just comfort), and styles that suite your personal taste.  Whatever style you like, we have something for you.

So I know you want some now huh?
You can buy some on the Dearfoams web site
They are currently having an end of season sale with 30% off some really cute slippers.  Check them out here.

Or you can WIN some!

Birds in the Trees: Leen the Graphics Queen review/giveaway

First I want to point out there is a new Nifty Nappy giveaway: Coupon Mommy 2...now 3!
------------------------------------------------------------

I want to give you a little piece of SPRING!
So first I need to introduce you to Leen...the Graphics Queen

I asked Leen a few questions, here is our little interview!

Who is the mastermind behind your products? Well, I guess you could say that I am the mastermind (I like the sound of that!) since I am the graphic designer.  I often see something in nature or anywhere else for that matter and think "I can make a design out of that!"

How long have you been selling your product?  I've been making decals and signs for over 13 years!  I can't believe it's been that long.  When you love your job like I do time flies right by!

How has your product evolved from the fist time you made it?  When I first started making decals in 1996 vehicle graphics were very popular.  No one would have thought to put designs on their walls.
Has it changed in design or anything?  The popular designs change one or two times a year.  Monograms and nature scenes are extremely popular now.

What do you love most about your product?  I think that your home should reflect your personality and wall decals make it easy and inexpensive to do just that.

What makes your product stand out from the rest?  *brag about it, it is ok!  :)  I would have to say my years and years of experience make my product stand out from the rest.  It takes a long time, hard work and design experience to create beautiful wall decals.  If you haven't been in the business very long you really can't accurately answer customers questions, know the correct application techniques, etc.

Fun huh?  Leen is awesome to work with.  I was super excited when I saw Leen's graphics in her Etsy shop.  I LoVe vinyl signs and such.  I have always wanted to get a nice big "something or other" to put on my walls.  The little tree that we picked is perfect for spring.

Cute huh?  I love it!  Leen helped me pick some good spring colors.
These are the colors you will get...
I was super excited to get my review one, but as I thought about it I decided to ask if they are easily moveable.  See, we might be moving... I didn't want to get an adorably cute tree just put up on the wall and then move!
Leen was great about replying to me.  (great customer service!) She told me, "They are removable but not reusable. So once you take them down, that's it!"
So needless to say I will not be putting the tree up.  But eventually it will go in my little girls' room.
Leen was super awesome though and she had included 2 extra little birdies in with the items.

I thought they were adorable and decided to throw them up on my computer armoire so we can have a little spring peeking at us!

It comes all rolled up in a nice tube, so that it doesn't get ruined!   Plus shipping was very prompt!  :)

Leen sends along very clear instructions on how to put these up.

See not hard at all!

I have a mommy bird and a cute little baby birdie! :)

They are loving watching all the snow melt around here!  :)

I had an amazing experience with Leen... you can to!

Wanna chance to win this cute tree and a birdie of your own?
Well, you can...
